For Wladyslaw Chmielewski, the Garmin Round Denmark Race is more than just a competition—it’s a true test of endurance, skill, and determination. In 2017 and 2021, he successfully completed the demanding offshore challenge, and in 2025, he’s back for more, sailing his Dehler 33 Classic, Bindi.

"The Round Denmark Race 2025 edition is going to be my third time. I completed the race in 2017 and 2021. I am going to meet my old and new friends there and compete against them. The exceptionally friendly atmosphere that accompanies this race, especially in the singlehand group, makes sailing a joy."
But while camaraderie defines the fleet, the real battle is fought out on the water. This is a race where sailors don’t just compete against each other—they fight the wind, the waves, and their own limits. For Wladyslaw, the challenge of overcoming these forces is what makes finishing the race so rewarding:
"The high level of difficulty of the race itself encourages you to test yourself and gives you great satisfaction if you overcome all the problems. Although everyone is fighting for gold, it must be emphasized that everyone who reaches the finish line will win. Win against the water and the wind, against the difficulties and against themselves."

Few races push sailors as hard as GRDR, where unpredictable conditions, strong currents, and sleep deprivation force every competitor to dig deep. To cross the finish line is not just a victory over distance—it’s a triumph over nature and personal limits.
