Last night, Ricard Roth was the first singlehanded sailor to cross the finish line in the Garmin Round Denmark Race, completing the course with a raw time of 130 hours, 25 minutes, and 15 seconds. After accounting for mandatory breaks, his official time stands at 106 hours, 25 minutes and 15 seconds.
The Garmin Round Denmark Race is a demanding event, challenging sailors to navigate the Danish coastline alone, with limited rest. Each participant is required to sail for no more than 36 hours before taking an obligatory 8-hour break, and Ricard made three such stops during his journey.
This morning, Ricard was joined by his close friend and fellow competitor, Jens Listrup, on the promenade in front of Aarhus International Sailing Center. Jens crossed the finish line with a official time of 117 hours, 45 minutes and 55 seconds.
As the race continues, we eagerly await the arrival of the final two singlehanded sailors, who will bring this year’s race to a close. 'Xplorer,' captained by Roland Jarlgaard, is expected to finish tonight, while 'Bliss,' skippered by Madelon Kuiper, is anticipated to reach the finish line in the early morning hours tomorrow.
