Entry #11: Young Danish Sailing League Team Takes on GRDR26 in Club Boat

A fully crewed youth team from Skovshoved has confirmed their entry for Garmin Round Denmark Race 2026, stepping beyond their usual competition format in the Danish Sailing League to take on one of Northern Europe’s most demanding inshore races.

Sailing the DS37 Emilie, the team is led by Louis Schou and represents a new generation of competitive sailors eager to test themselves on the full around Denmark course. While the boat is club-owned and the crew is young, their ambitions are clear: to prepare thoroughly, sail smart, and demonstrate that commitment and teamwork can match far greater resources.

“As a youth team, normally competing in the Danish Sailing League, we have chosen to take on an ambitious challenge: competing in the Garmin Round Denmark Race,” says Louis Schou. “Sailing a Club DS 37, we aim to demonstrate that age and the fact that we are racing in a sailing club boat are not limitations.”

The crew’s participation highlights how GRDR26 continues to attract a wide range of teams - from experienced teams to ambitious youth crews -united by the challenge of inshore sailing around Denmark.

For this team, the race is both a sporting test and a statement about accessibility within high-level sailing.
