Champagne Sailing on Day 2

Updated: Aug 13

The GRDR25 fleet is sailing very fast at the moment, and you have to keep up or you'll be left drifting behind.

The action centers Bornholm, with 'Tri' way ahead!

2 ABD FOR THE DAY

Tough day for the GRDR25 who saw two of its crews abandon the race.

'Itsi Bitsi': Yesterday they had some trouble amongst the crew, which has continued to day. This means the young guns with skipper Andreas Kristiansen right now is on their way back to Aarhus, with a stop for the night in Grenå. We are welcoming the guys home tomorrow monday.

'Epoxi': Tom Schwartzkopff, single handed sailor, chose to withdraw from the race.

"I crashed my traveller and my leg in a chinese jibe.

After no wind for about four hours (!) in front of Grenå at friday afternoon, the nightride up to Skagen and then to Anholt was good, but my repair broke again in a huge swell on the way to Anholt. So I give up." Tom finishes his messages with "unfinished business".

DYNAMIC DUO TAKES THE LEAD

Lars and Jon Kaepmfe is more than father and son. They are a dynamic duo who have taken a comfortable lead ahead of the rest of the GRDR25 fleet.

While the most of the action is centered around Bornholm, Lars and Jon, are well on their way to Gedser.

Last year the Inshore record of the Garmin Round Denmark Race was beaten. Will it happen again this year?

Maybe, if the rest of the way shows champagne sailing for 'Tri' like in the video below:
