Tonno and Ella Join the Doublehand Discipline in the Garmin Round Denmark Race 2025!

The entry week for the Garmin Round Denmark Race 2025 continues with another exciting announcement!

This time, we’re thrilled to welcome a Dutch doublehand crew who are ready for an incredible summer adventure. Tonno van Bemmel and Ella will be taking on the challenge aboard their Koopmans VQ 32, Serdon. With only two sailors at the helm, they’ll be tackling the grueling race in the Doublehand discipline this August.

Tonno, the skipper of Serdon, shared his excitement about joining the race:

"After sailing many years in a team, I found a new challenge in shorthanded sailing. Long-distance sailing in the Netherlands typically stops at 150 or 200 nautical miles. The Garmin Round Denmark Race is a very challenging event because it’s an inshore race with frequent changes in conditions. Navigating, sail changes, and keeping the boat up to speed follow each other at a rapid pace. You have to continuously adapt throughout the race. The name of the boat is a Dutch saying: ‘𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗘𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗢𝗻𝘀 𝗡𝗶𝗲𝘁,’ which means storm and rain do not harm us." – Tonno van Bemmel

We love the philosophy behind the name of their boat! It’s the perfect mindset for tackling a race as demanding as the GRDR. And honestly, someone should definitely print that saying on t-shirts—it's a slogan that captures the spirit of the race!

Tonno and Ella are gearing up for what promises to be an unforgettable experience as they sail through Denmark’s unpredictable waters. From shifting conditions to rapid-fire sail changes, the GRDR will test their skills and adaptability every step of the way. We can’t wait to see them on the starting line this August!

Ready for your own adventure? If you’re looking to challenge yourself this summer, the GRDR is the perfect opportunity. Don’t forget that you can save 10% on your entry fee by using the code "GRDR10" when registering.

We’ll be cheering on Tonno and Ella as they take on the Garmin Round Denmark Race 2025—see you in August, guys!
