Tom Returns to the Garmin Round Denmark Race – But This Time, He’s Going Solo

In 2021, Tom C. Schwartzkopff took part in the Garmin Round Denmark Race with a fully crewed boat, but this year, he’s stepping up the challenge and going it alone!

A seasoned sailor, Tom is no stranger to long-distance races. In 2025, he will be racing Singlehand aboard his X-332, Epoxi, and we’re excited to see him take on the toughest waters Northern Europe has to offer. Tom’s sailing journey has been nothing short of impressive, and he shared some of his history with us:

"I started sailing in a dinghy in 1986 and got my first yacht, a Maxi84, in 2016. For the past five years, I’ve sailed a Mamba34. Since 2024, I’ve been sailing an X-332, which has its home harbour in Wassersleben, Flensborg. I’ve finished the Silverrudder three times and also participated in the Garmin Round Denmark Race in 2021 with a full crew. Unfortunately, we had to abandon the race due to a lack of wind. This year, I’m giving it another go, alongside my mate Lars, who will be racing on his X-412."

Tom’s story is a testament to his determination and passion for sailing. After years of experience, he’s ready to tackle the GRDR once again, this time with the added challenge of racing Singlehand. We’re thrilled to have him back and look forward to seeing how Epoxi performs on this solo journey around Denmark.
