From sunset to sunrise
The night before rounding Bornholm and Christians Ø, Roland experienced one of many spectacular sunsets as you can see below. Little did he know, he was in for some champagne sailing:
"I spent the most of the night rounding Bornholm and Christians Ø, which I did at about 4am in the morning. It was really amazing in the sunrise. After sailing past the southern part of Bornholm, I set the course for Gedser. With 8-9 knots the spirit was very high, and it was some of the best sailing I've ever had."
Below you can see the early morning on the Xplorer where Roland rounded Christians Ø with an amazing sunrise, which would be the start of an amazing day. These scenic water views is balm for the soul.
Final Stretch for Aarhus
After the depature from Gedser, Roland set out for the final leg of the race back home to Aarhus. In rough weather he made it back in the middle of the day and had the following to say about the race:
"It has been an absolute pleasure and a great experience for me to join the Garmin Round Denmark Race. For me it was a magnificent once-in-a-lifetime experience, where my skills as a singlehand sailor was tested to the maximum. You are in the elements on your own, fighting nature, watching weather systems passing by and navigating complicated traffic zones, while you also experience some of the astounishing scenery of Denmark."
