NEW RECORD after Flawless Effort by Claus Cato

Archambault 35 skipper Claus Cato lead the single-handed inshore race right from the start and all the way to the finish at 03:55 Thursday morning June 23, 2022.

During the race he succeeded with the game plan of only three stops. The first was a very long leg from Aarhus round the mark at Skagen, past Helsingør into Øresund before the rest in Skovedhoved after some 250 NM. The next stop was in Nexø on Bornholm whereas the last was in Rødby on Lolland.

Claus Cato spend 5 days 15 hours and 55 minutes which makes a still unofficial new record on the singlehanded course 6 hours and 9 minutes better than the 2021 record by Jan Hansen who spend 5 days, 22 hours and 4 minutes on the 640 NM long course.

Claus Cato was humble and happy after in entered the harbour where he was met by his wife and volunteers from for Sailing Aarhus who helped him dock the boat.

– It's a tough race. You get tired as the days goes. It's important to manage your food and hydration and of course the get rest. Apart from the mandatory 8 hrs rest in the harbours I managed to get short 10-15 minutes power naps when the traffic allowed it, Claus Cato said.
