Entry #5: Tim is Ready to Take on the GRDR-Challenge

Tim Holst Gregersen has entered Maxi 77 into Garmin Round Denmark Race 2026, taking on the full nonstop circumnavigation of Denmark in the Single Handed discipline.

His motivation for joining the demanding GRDR26 course comes from many years of dedication to solo sailing. “I’ve become hooked on single-handed sailing over the years, both racing and cruising, and GRDR seems like the perfect opportunity to test myself and my little Maxi,” says Gregersen.

For Tim, preparation is an ongoing process. His Maxi 77 has been extensively reworked, with substantial rig adjustments and a new square-head mainsail scheduled to be ready for the 2026 season. These upgrades speak to his determination to sail longer distances and continuously expand his personal limits.

GRDR26 stands among Northern Europe’s longest continuous inshore challenges, sending sailors on a nonstop route around Denmark that demands endurance, navigation skills, and a finely tuned vessel. Tim’s participation illustrates how even smaller, carefully prepared boats can take on the full scope of the race. The event’s format allows dedicated sailors — regardless of size or type of boat — to measure themselves against a complete, uninterrupted Danish circumnavigation.
